Our Patron Saint

Our Patron Saint: Saint Anne

At St Anne’s, we are proud to have Saint Anne as our patron saint. Her life and example inspire the way we learn, teach, and grow as a Catholic community.

Who Was Saint Anne?

Saint Anne is traditionally known as the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandmother of Jesus. Though she is not mentioned by name in the Bible, her story has been passed down through Christian tradition and has held an important place in the life of the Church for centuries.

She is remembered as a woman of deep faith, strength, and devotion—a model of parenting and spiritual guidance. Along with her husband, Saint Joachim, she raised Mary to be a woman of strong character and faith, preparing her to become the mother of Jesus.

Why Is Saint Anne Important to Us?

As a Catholic primary school, Saint Anne reminds us of the importance of:

  • Nurturing faith at home and in school

  • The vital role of parents, grandparents, and teachers in the lives of children

  • Patience, love, and perseverance in raising and educating young people

  • Trusting in God’s plan, even when it is not fully clear

We look to Saint Anne as an example of how to care for others and grow in faith as a community. Her life shows us how small, everyday acts of love can have a lasting impact on the world.

Our School Community and Saint Anne

We honour Saint Anne through:

  • Prayer and liturgy, at the end of all our prayers and especially on the build up to her feast day, July 26th

  • School celebrations and reflections that highlight her values

  • Encouraging students to show kindness, respect, and strong character, as she did

As our patron, Saint Anne walks with us in our daily learning and guides us to become caring, faithful, and hopeful members of society.

Saint Anne, Pray for us.
